Critiquing Photography

Part 1:

I believe this was my most successful image because as a huge sports and basketball fan, having the opportunity to sit this close to a professional game forced me to capture the moment. I felt as if this photo captured what it means in sports to play on the big stage. Madison Square Garden is one of the most iconic venues to play at and with the bright New York Lights shining down on the players, I had to capture it. I feel as if the darkness over the crowd brings out the light of the action even more as the court is the only part of the arena lit up. I feel as if the most challenging part of this assignment was determining what fit into what category of photography as many categories overlap and judgement can be based on perspective. In the future, I feel to take stronger image the main key is to take more images. The more images I can capture, the better chance I will have of finding stronger ones within them.

Part 2:

This is certainly an aesthetically evaluative picture! It is quite beautiful between the natural flow of the water and the reflection of the bright colored tiles of the pool wall. There is great contrast as well in the background with the green colors of nature as well as the plants on either sides. You can almost hear this photograph of the waterfall splashing against the water. I think this is a great photograph.

Hi Jake! I like on how the photograph turned out! Even though sometimes taking a vertical photo to capture a lot of people is difficult, you were able to perfectly get the basket ball played and the audience in an equal spacing while the game is in progress. I also like on how you took advantage of the stadium lighting of the basketball court which helps bring the audience looking at your photograph look directly towards the players.

Hi Jake,

You did a great job with this photograph! What stands out to me is the variety of colors within the stadium. I like how you captured the players in the basketball game along with the entire stadium. When I saw this picture it really felt like I was in the stands. In the future, try some different filters to see if the image changes for better or worse.

Hi Jake!, this photo that you choose for this challenge really is explanatory. We see that you are at a basketball game and enjoying your time. What I really like about this photo is the different lighting that is presented. The court is very vibrant and the colors pop for sure! Like you said with the crowd being darker it really makes the picture and draws your attention straight to the court. The one suggestion that I have is maybe to take a photo of more action on the court like someone doing a dunk. Overall, great job with the photos!
